Whether you celebrate Bonfire night or not, as proud Yorkshire folk, we reckon there's no better snack to warm your cockles during the cold, dark months, than this oatmeal-y, treacle-y treat!
Ingredients

golden syrup
250g
self-raising flour
200g
butter
100g
oatmeal
2 tsp
ground ginger
1 tsp
mixed spice
85g
brown sugar
85g
treacle
1
egg
4 tbsp
milk
Icing sugar for decoration
Method
Heat the oven to 160C/140C fan.
Grease and line a deep 22cm square cake tin.
Whisk the egg and milk together.
Melt the syrup, treacle, sugar, and butter in a large pan over low to medium heat until the sugar has dissolved then remove from the heat.
Mix the oatmeal, flour, and ginger then combine with the treacly mixture. Then add the egg and milk and mix well.
Pour the mixture into the tin and bake for 50 mins – 1 hr until it's firm and a little crusty on top.
